VOCAL HEALTH & RESILIENCE FOR TEACHERS
Paul Tabone – Vocal Coach & Accredited Vocal Health First Aider
Why This Program Matters
Key Insights & Data (NSW Teachers Federation & Voice Care Research)
Teaching is a high vocal-load profession, with educators significantly more prone to vocal fatigue, hoarseness, and voice disorders than the general population.
Up to 80% of teachers experience vocal fatigue or hoarseness at some point during their career.
Vocal fatigue leads to reduced classroom engagement, heightened stress, and avoidable prolonged sick leave.
Vocal problems cost the education sector millions annually in sick leave and replacement teacher coverage.
Poor vocal health directly impacts student learning outcomes, effective classroom management, and teacher well-being.
This program provides practical, evidence-based vocal techniques to protect and strengthen the voice for lifelong career resilience.

Vocal Health: Supporting Your Voice at Every Stage
Your voice deserves informed, individual care. Paul Tabone holds a Certificate in Vocal Health First Aid, complementing his experience as an international performer and vocal coach.
This training helps Paul recognise signs of potential vocal imbalance, offer practical vocal wellbeing guidance and identify when specialist assessment is needed.

Rebuild Confidence in Your Voice
At The Artists Lab, we have supported singers of all ages in overcoming technical challenges, managing vocal fatigue and rebuilding confidence following vocal difficulties. Our experience includes working with singers concerned about raspy or inconsistent voices, and supporting a return to singing following treatment for vocal nodules, in line with specialist advice.
We help singers develop more efficient vocal habits, understand their individual needs and build a consistent approach to practice and performance. Where appropriate, this work complements care from an ENT specialist or speech pathologist.
Practical Guidance for Everyday Voice Care
Our approach includes:
- Building awareness of how the voice works.
- Understanding hydration, vocal load and recovery.
- Developing appropriate warm-ups and practice habits.
- Exploring gentle exercises, including straw phonation where suitable.
- Recognising changes that require specialist attention.
